- More than a hundred saplings distributed among students in Sonargaon

More than a hundred fruit, forest and medicinal tree saplings have been distributed among students in Sonargaon Upazila, Narayanganj, under the initiative of the Environment Protection and Development Society.
The distribution program was held on Tuesday (August 14) at 3 pm in the premises of Mograpara Government Primary School No. 55 of the upazila.
The program was presided over by Sonargaon Branch Committee President Md. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan and moderated by the organization’s chairman Mohammad Hossain.
Mograpara Union BNP General Secretary Mohammad Ataur Rahman was present as the chief guest. The special guests were Haji Nurul Alam, acting chairman of Mograpara Union Parishad, Nitai Chandra Barman, head teacher of the school, Farzana Akhter, Afroza Shirin, Amena Khatun, Sunia Ahmed, Isam-Ara Shanta, Secretary General of the organization Mizanur Rahman, Chairman of the Disabled Children and Youth Welfare Council Sardar MA Moin, BNP leader Jahangir Alam and social worker Md. Ramzan Ali.
In addition, local journalists Moktar Hossain, Imran and many others were present.
In his speech as the chief guest, Mohammad Ataur Rahman said, “Trees not only provide oxygen, they make the environment habitable, protect the soil and maintain natural balance. If trees are given to the children of today, they will be the protectors of the green Bangladesh of tomorrow.”
Finally, saplings of different species were given to the students and awareness was called for protecting the environment.
