The 50-year-old woman had cooked mushroom-laced beef Wellington that killed her in-laws and their sister, and nearly took another life. Her husband, Simon Patterson, missed that deadly lunch by chance, but claims he was a long-time target.

Chilling Accusations Behind The Courtroom Walls

Simon Patterson told the court he grew suspicious after years of strange illnesses. He first fell violently ill after eating pasta Erin gave him in 2021. Later, a curry on a camping trip nearly killed him, putting him into a coma and requiring major surgery.

Another poisoning left him barely able to move. He told doctors, and eventually family members, that he feared his wife was behind the sickness. Despite once thinking their relationship was peaceful, he eventually removed Erin as his medical power of attorney.

Mushroom murderer tried poison attempts, even using cookies supposedly baked by their daughter, the court heard.

Family Shocked As Evidence Surfaces

Evidence revealed Erin had done online research about poisons and even faked social media posts about a non-existent cat vomiting mushrooms. Investigators found files on toxins on her computer.

Although the charges tied to Simon Patterson were dropped before trial, his evidence became public afterward, painting a disturbing picture of alleged repeated poisoning attempts.

Erin Patterson’s sentencing is set for August 25.
