Gunman Kills Four in Midtown Manhattan Rampage
A gunman stormed a Manhattan skyscraper, killing four people and injuring one more before turning the gun on himself.
Among the dead is police officer Didarul Islam, a father of two, who tried to protect others during the attack.
The shooter, 27-year-old Shane Tamura from Las Vegas, entered the building with an assault-style rifle on Monday evening.
He opened fire in the lobby, then took an elevator to the 33rd floor to continue the assault.

Didarul Islam was working security when he was shot. He had served in the NYPD for over three years.
Commissioner Jessica Tisch called him a hero, saying he made the “ultimate sacrifice.”
The building also houses major firms like the NFL, Blackstone, and KPMG.
Police say Tamura shot three more people inside, sparing one woman he encountered at the elevator.
He later shot himself on the 33rd floor.
A fifth victim remains in critical but stable condition at a hospital.
The shooter had driven from Nevada and brought multiple rounds and weapons, police confirmed.
Panic in the Streets as Police Lock Down Area
Gunfire caused panic in Midtown Manhattan. Pedestrians fled as police ordered people to shelter inside buildings.
A BBC reporter saw people being carried away on stretchers, including one with a chest injury.
Coffee shop employee Mama Bouhenni described dozens being evacuated with their hands raised.
“I recognized many. It was terrifying. I hope they all made it home safely,” she said.
