Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Pre-Orders Surpass Flip 7
In a surprising twist, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 pre-orders have outpaced those of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in South Korea. This shift highlights a growing preference for book-style foldables over clamshell designs. For years, the Galaxy Z Flip series led Samsung’s foldable sales. But now, the Fold 7 is taking the spotlight.
Samsung recently launched both devices at its Galaxy Unpacked event. According to reports, more than 1.04 million pre-orders were made in South Korea, breaking last year’s record. This shows a 14% increase compared to the 910,000 pre-orders for the previous models.
Fold 7 Preferred by Male Buyers in Their 30s and 40s
Data from South Korea’s top mobile carriers—SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus—revealed that 60% of customers chose the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Most Fold 7 buyers were men, with 83% of pre-orders at SK Telecom placed by male users. Meanwhile, 59% of Galaxy Z Flip 7 buyers were women.
People in their 30s and 40s made up over 60% of total pre-orders. The most popular color for both models was Blue Shadow, followed by Jet Black for Fold 7 and Coral Red for Flip 7.
Global Interest Grows as India Follows the Trend
Samsung also reported a surge in interest from the Indian market. The Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Flip 7 FE together secured 210,000 pre-orders. This number nearly matches pre-orders from the Galaxy S25 series, indicating strong global demand.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 pre-orders leading over the Flip 7 marks a key moment for Samsung’s foldable strategy. With increasing demand from both men and women, and rising global interest, the Fold 7 is shaping up to be a major success.
Meanwhile, there seems to be a growing consumer interest in Samsung’s foldable lineup in the Indian market as well. Samsung earlier this week claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, collectively secured 2,10,000 pre-orders in the country. According to the brand, this figure nearly matches the pre-orders seen for the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year.
