Overnight, Russia strikes Kyiv again with a devastating assault that left destruction across multiple districts. Ukrainian officials report at least eight deaths and over 130 people wounded, including children.
Among the victims were a six-year-old boy and his mother. The Sviatoshynskyi and Solomyansky districts suffered the worst damage. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that 12 children were among the injured, the highest child casualty count in one night since the war began.
An apartment block was completely destroyed, killing three people on-site. Emergency services are still clearing the debris, hoping to find survivors.
Worsening Attacks Despite U.S. Warnings
Russia launched over 300 drones and multiple cruise missiles during the night. The loud hum of drones filled the skies for hours, followed by the explosions of missile impacts. Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s warnings of tougher sanctions, Moscow’s assault continues.
President Zelensky condemned the attack, calling it “demonstrative murder” in response to global peace efforts. He emphasized that peace without power is impossible.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha called it a “horrible morning,” adding that civilians remain trapped under the rubble.
Battlefield Claims and Escalation in Donetsk
Meanwhile, Russia claimed it had captured the strategic town of Chasiv Yar in eastern Donetsk. Ukraine denied this, saying battles are ongoing. Analysts suggest Russian forces now control parts of the town, putting nearby cities like Sloviansk and Kramatorsk at risk.
The town of Pokrovsk, about 60km away, has become one of the most dangerous flashpoints. Experts fear a potential encirclement by Russian troops, putting thousands of Ukrainian defenders at risk.
Russia strikes Kyiv again, making it clear that the war shows no signs of slowing — even with mounting international pressure.
