Ukraine’s armed forces confirmed that a Russian missile hit a Ukrainian training unit, killing and injuring several servicemen.
The attack occurred on Tuesday and has drawn sharp concern over ongoing risks to training facilities.

According to Ukraine’s ground forces, three soldiers were killed and 18 were wounded in the strike.
The exact location of the training site was not disclosed, but some reports suggest it was in the Chernihiv region, near Russia and Belarus.

Russia’s Ministry of Defence released a video claiming the strike was done with an Iskander ballistic missile.
The video, showing over 20 explosions, hasn’t been independently verified. Russia also claimed higher casualties than Ukraine reported.

Investigation Launched After Deadly Missile Incident

Ukraine’s military acknowledged that despite security protocols, casualties could not be fully avoided.
Authorities confirmed that they are investigating if any negligence or failure by officials contributed to the losses.

This is the third Russian attack on a Ukrainian training facility in just over two months.
In May, an Iskander missile strike in Sumy killed six Ukrainian servicemen.
Another attack last month left 12 dead and more than 60 wounded.

The military is taking the latest incident seriously due to its recurring nature and the sensitivity of troop training operations.
It raises major concerns about troop safety during non-combat drills.

Previous Commander Resigned After Similar Strike

After last month’s deadly strike, Commander Mykhailo Drapatyi resigned, acknowledging the loss of young recruits.
He confirmed that most victims were in shelters when the attack happened.

The confirmation that a Russian missile hit a Ukrainian training unit underscores the danger even behind the front lines.
It’s a tragic reminder that no part of Ukraine remains untouched by the ongoing conflict.
