Tragedy in Dhaka: School Hit by Air Force Jet

A shocking incident unfolded in Dhaka as a Bangladesh air force jet crash killed at least 20 people, including children. The F-7 training aircraft went down on Monday afternoon, slamming into Milestone School and College in Uttara.

Footage from the crash site showed raging flames and thick black smoke rising from the damaged building. The two-storey campus had just released students when the tragedy struck. Most victims were children, with the youngest just four years old.

Pilot Among the Dead; Over 170 Injured

The air force confirmed that the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Md. Taukir Islam, was killed. He had taken off shortly before the crash for a routine training mission. A mechanical fault caused the plane to lose control, and the pilot reportedly attempted to steer away from populated areas.

Despite his efforts, the jet hit the school directly. More than 170 people were injured, with over 50 hospitalized for severe burns. Many victims, aged between 10 and 15, are in critical condition. Emergency responders rushed to help survivors amid scenes of devastation.

Government Promises Full Probe, Declares Day of Mourning

Bangladesh’s interim leader Muhammad Yunus announced a national day of mourning. Flags will fly at half-mast across the country on Tuesday. He also vowed full support for victims’ families and a thorough investigation into the Bangladesh air force jet crash.

Hospitals across Dhaka overwhelm, with families crowding burn units, desperate for news. Volunteers lined up to donate blood. An investigation committee has been form to uncover what caused the fatal malfunction.

This is one of the deadliest aviation incidents in recent Bangladeshi history.
