Police End Terrorism Investigation into Kneecap’s Glastonbury Act

UK police have officially ended the Kneecap Glastonbury terror probe after finding insufficient evidence to continue. The Irish rap group came under investigation following their charged performance at the Glastonbury Festival last month.

Kneecap performed on the West Holts stage alongside punk-rap duo Bob Vylan. Both acts featured politically charged content, including chants aimed at UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Bob Vylan’s set also included strong anti-Israel military statements.

The investigation stemmed from concerns over possible hate speech or incitement linked to these performances.

Terror Charges Linked to Prior Offence Dropped

Before Glastonbury, one Kneecap member had already been charged in May for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag, an act considered a terrorism offence under UK law. The accused has denied any wrongdoing.

Despite the controversy, police confirmed on Friday that the Kneecap Glastonbury terror probe would not lead to prosecution. After reviewing the case with the Crown Prosecution Service, authorities found no realistic chance of a conviction.

The official statement emphasized that there simply wasn’t enough evidence to move forward legally.

Kneecap Claims Probe Was Politically Driven

The group responded strongly to the dropped case. In a social media post, Kneecap called the probe “politically motivated.” They said everyone at the performance knew no laws were broken.

They also criticized police for publicly announcing an investigation when no valid charges could be upheld.

Meanwhile, enquiries into Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury set remain ongoing.
