A Pakistan Air Force team has arrived in the UK, bringing the upgraded JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighters and a C-130 Hercules. According to ISPR, this participation demonstrates Pakistan’s dedication to innovation and defense excellence.

The RIAT, now in its 50th year, is among the world’s largest military airshows. It also supports the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust.

Mid-Air Refuelling Shows Global Capability

During their journey to the UK, the PAF’s JF-17 Thunder jets performed successful mid-air refueling. This was done with help from a PAF IL-78 aerial tanker. The operation reflects the Air Force’s extended range and operational maturity.

The Block-III version of the JF-17 features a cutting-edge EASA radar system. It is equipped with long-range Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles, making it a powerful multi-role 4.5 generation fighter.

Its flexibility in combat roles strengthens Pakistan’s defense posture in today’s evolving airspace challenges.

Jet With a Proven Combat Record

The JF-17 gained global recognition after Pakistan’s 15 Squadron downed five Indian aircraft during a conflict last year. This was one of the most intense air battles in South Asia in decades.

Enthusiasm is building across the UK among aviation fans and defense watchers. The arrival of the JF-17 Thunder Block-III has become one of the most awaited attractions of RIAT 2025.

Its combat history, high-tech features, and national pride make it a standout presence in this prestigious event.

Global Recognition at RIAT 2025

The Pakistan Air Force earned international praise at RIAT 2025, securing two major honors at the world’s largest military airshow.

PAF’s C-130H Hercules won the Concours d’Elegance Trophy for its striking livery and powerful theme based on RIAT’s 2025 motto, “Eyes in the Skies.” The aircraft’s design reflected vigilance, legacy, and Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and security.

Meanwhile, the JF-17 Thunder Block-III received the Spirit of the Meet Trophy for its outstanding display and design. The fighter jet completed a remarkable 6,000-kilometer nonstop flight from Pakistan to the UK, made possible through multiple in-air refueling operations using a PAF IL-78 tanker. This feat demonstrated PAF’s expeditionary strength and long-range operational confidence on an international stage.
